Within minutes, authorities arrived at the scene to find victims injured by gunfire and the shooter deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Butler was armed with a pump-action shotgun and a small-caliber handgun during the attack. Additionally, an improvised explosive device was discovered within the school premises but was promptly rendered safe by the state fire marshal and federal authorities.
